*Persephone - Battle of the Rings 2025
The story of Persephone… One day long ago, the young Persephone was frolicking in a flowering meadow with her companions. Unexpectedly, she was seized from the meadow by the god Hades and carried away to the underworld as his bride. Her mother Demeter despaired at her disappearance. With the help of Hekate, goddess of the night, they searched through the dark skies bearing flaming torches. When Demeter learned that Zeus had conspired in Persephone’s abduction, she became outraged. In her fury, she refused to let the earth bear fruit until her daughter was returned. Zeus agreed to return Persephone under the condition that she would forever spend a part of each year with her husband in the underworld since she had tasted pomegranate seeds from his hands. And so, when the earth becomes bare, Persephone can be found in the underworld; when the meadows flower and the sudden growth of the Spring returns, so does she.
This ring was fabricated from 56 components that were cut, textured, formed and layered to create a dynamic impression of a flowering garden studded with raw diamonds. An objet d’art, this piece presents beautifully both on display and when worn, and has a lovely story to tell about renewal and regrowth.
